KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Saturday issued a fresh travel advisory for passengers from Saudi Arabia, directing the travellers to fill the new health declaration form in the wake of the new coronavirus variants found in the United Kingdom and South Africa.
A notification was issued by the airline’s flight services department, stating the Kingdom’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) updated its health disclaimer form for all airlines operating in Saudi Arabia.
The national flag-carrier directed its flights’ crew to distribute the health declaration form to all passengers travelling to the Kingdom.
Following the instructions, the Riyadh-bound passengers flying PIA have been asked by its administration to fill the declaration at the airport’s health control centres.
The measure comes days after the PakÂisÂtan Civil Aviation AuthoÂrity (PCAA) extended travel restrictions on category-C countries till February 28. The countries in the category include South Africa, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Ireland, Portugal and the Netherlands.
Subject to National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) approval, travellers from these countries can still arrive in Pakistan.
The PCAA also reduced the PCR test requirement for the countries categorised as B and C from 96 to 72 hours.
The travel-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the PCAA in December and January have also been extended till February 28.
