Punjab approves development schemes of Rs10.5 billion

LAHORE: The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved three development schemes of various sectors with an estimated cost of Rs10,464.548 million.
According to details, the schemes were approved in the 22nd meeting of PDWP of current fiscal year 2020-21 presided over by Planning & Development (P&D) Board Chairman Abdullah Khan Sunbal.
P&D Provincial Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch, all members of the P&D Board, provincial secretaries of concerned departments, senior chief (coordination) Javed Latif, assistant chief coordination Shahid Idrees and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.
An official of P&D Board informed that the approved development schemes included as establishment of 200-bed Mother & Child Hospital at Ghalla Godam Multan at the cost of Rs2,253.095 million, Remaining Land Acquisition for Greater Thal Canal (GTC) Project (Revised) at the cost of Rs8,181.453 million and Establishment of Public Financial Management Unit (PFMU) and Programme Support Unit (PSU) in Finance Department and P&D Board respectively under Punjab Resource Improvement and Digital Effectiveness (PRIDE) Programme.
Sumbal emphasised the effectiveness of health-related initiatives by the provincial government during the current fiscal year.
The chairman mentioned that there has been an urgent call for revitalizing primary health care in order to meet health challenges and the government of Punjab always prioritises health concerns of its people.
