SAPM Sultan registered for vaccination as 36 more die of Covid-19

The virus infects 1,340 more in the past 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Saturday said he has already registered for Covid-19 vaccination and requested others above the age of 60 to do the same.

“Happily, I just registered,” the SAPM, who himself is in the age group, said in a tweet. He urged others to do the same as he shared further instructions for those willing to register.

“Now that we have expected the arrival of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in early March, all those 60 years of age and older are now requested to begin registration,” Sultan said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said Pakistan has recorded 36 more coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours, surging the overall death toll to 12,563.

According to the latest statistics, the Covid-19 has infected 1,340 more people in the past 24 hours, raising the total count of active cases to 24,081.

In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,362 patients were recovered from the virus and 1,604 were reported as critical patients.

According to the NCOC, after inclusion of the fresh infections in the country, the national tally of cases currently stands at 569,846.

A total of 42,332 tests were conducted across the country during the past 24 hours. Overall 533,202 people have recovered from the deadly disease while 8,644,847 samples have been tested so far.
