PTI calls for removal of Imran Ismail for ‘poor strategy’

PTI leaders Liaquat Jatoi and Saifullah Abro clash in Larkana

Members of the ruling party have called for the removal of Sindh Governor Imran Ismail as he allegedly did not consult stakeholders for the Senate elections, leading to the candidates from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) losing in the Malir, Sanghar, and Tharparkar by-polls due to the governor’s “poor strategy”.

The dissatisfaction was expressed during a meeting at the residence of PTI leader Gul Muhammad Rind. Several party members, including Liaquat Jatoi, Mumtaz Shah, and others were in attendance.

The members further complained that Imran Ismail has failed to execute the duties of his office and has not properly brought Prime Minister Imran Khan’s manifesto to Sindh.

The statement condemned the show-cause notice issued to Liaquat Jatoi by the party and demanded the withdrawal of the notice as the politician is “an asset to the party”.

Separately, PTI leaders Liaquat Jatoi and Saifullah Abro on Friday clashed in Larkana.

PTI activists of Larkana and Kambar Shahdadkot districts held a large protest demonstration at Jinnah Bagh Friday holding party’s flags and large banners in their hands against awarding a party ticket to Saifullah Abro for Senate elections 2021. They also shouted slogans in favour of their demand.

Aqil Chandio, Wasim Jatoi, Javed Mangi, Jehangir Channo, Mumtaz Chandio, Habib Kathiyo and others questioned the basis of giving PTI’s ticket to Abro. They said what sacrifice has he given for Sindh or the party.

They said that he entered PTI about eight months ago and there are several old loyal members of the party who have more experience than him but they were ignored which shows, they added, that some selfish people sitting inside the party are real enemies of the party.

They said that these elements have their own nefarious designs and are working against the party. They alleged that Abro is facing corruption and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases against whom arrest warrants were also issued.

They asked when the party is working against corruption then how PTI can give a ticket to the man who is facing NAB and corruption cases. They urged the PTI Chairman and Prime Minister Imran Khan to immediately withdraw the ticket given to Abro or the party will be scattered, they feared.

Meanwhile, during the protest, two groups of workers had a dispute in which Ashique Jatoi was injured. Injured told newsmen that he is Larkana city’s general secretary and was attacked by Jehangir Channo and other activists of the party whereas Channo claimed that they were holding a peaceful demonstration against the party’s unjust decision when they were not only abused but also manhandled by Jatoi after which dispute started, he added.
