Buzdar orders quality work on uplift projects within time frame

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that officers posted in the Southern Punjab Secretariat should complete public welfare projects on time.
He further said that concerned officers should ensure transparent utilisation of development funds and no compromise will be made on the quality of development projects.
The chief minister said this on Sunday while chairing a meeting of secretaries posted in Southern Punjab Secretariat. He said, “We will continue to encourage honest and conscientious officers.”
He expressed indignation over the performance of the Southern Punjab Secretariat and strongly reprimanded the concerned authorities for not resolving public issues at the earliest, besides delay in projects of public welfare. He directed the secretaries of different departments to improve their performance.
Buzdar directed the secretaries to take effective measures for resolving the peoples’ problems. The departments will have to perform now, inefficiency will not be tolerated at all, he warned, adding that strict action will be taken against those responsible for negligence.
He said that those who fail to deliver as per the expectations of the people have no right to hold public office. Buzdar said that he will not compromise on the standards and quality in the projects of public welfare. There will be third party monitoring on every public welfare scheme, he added.
He directed that officers should go out in the field to ensure transparency in development projects. Lip service will not be tolerated, he said. He also said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government by establishing a separate Secretariat in the Southern Punjab has given it a new identity. He further said that now the people of the area will not have to come to Lahore for their work. Officers should perform their duties with determination and wholeheartedly, he added.
Secretaries of different departments of Southern Punjab including health, finance, planning and development, local government, housing, urban development and public health engineering, agriculture, livestock and dairy development, S&GAD, law, communications and works, irrigation, education, forest and additional secretary home from the Southern Punjab Secretariat attended the meeting.
The principal secretary to chief minister gave necessary instructions to concerned secretaries in order to improve their performance.
