Mobile snatching

Karachi is no new to mobile snatching. There has been a surge in mobile snatching in Karachi in the last few weeks; one has to think what’s the reason behind it. With upcoming Ramadan followed by Eid, prices are increasing. People from stable financial backgrounds are set amid this COVID-19 economic crises, but people from low-income backgrounds are looking for ways to meet their ends and feed their families.

Unfortunately, many people resort to snatching or illegal ways to earn money to fulfil their family’s needs. The lives of the Karachites are at stake because these thieves shoot the person to death who tries to resist their precious belongings. As the holiest month of the year approaches, the unholiest practices have started taking place.

The rate at which snatching and mugging occur is inversely proportional to the number of days left in Ramadan. To tackle this growing issue, the concerned authorities should look into this matter immediately. Moreover, the government should make the basic commodities of life easily accessible and affordable for everyone so that people from low-income backgrounds don’t resort to illicit ways to fulfil their family’s necessities.
