ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Chairman Shehryar Khan Afridi on Friday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) law enforcement agencies were investigating the killing of a child in Kohat and also the killing of a youth in Jaani Khel, Waziristan.

The minor girl went missing from the city’s Khattak colony on Wednesday, March 24, and her body was found a day later from a nullah. Her autopsy report revealed that she was sexually abused before being tortured to death.

On Friday, while speaking to the media after offering Fateha for the minor, Hareem Fatima, at her hometown, Babal Khel Town, Karak District, Afridi said that the perpetrators would be arrested and brought to justice soon

“Whosoever is responsible for killing the little child would be arrested soon. We have some leads and Police are working on these leads. It would not take much time,” he assured the family.

Talking about Jaani Khel incident where three youth were beheaded in Waziristan, Shehryar Afridi said that the KP CM Mehmood Khan had offered the local elders to form a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate brutal killings of the Waziristan youth and the local authorities are making efforts to arrest the killers and make them an example.

He maintained that local elders are also being engaged and a JIT would prove the matter.

He underscored that the government would not allow hostile forces to use the killings for political purposes and all state institutions are being employed and geofencing and forensics are being conducted to arrest the killer.

Briefing the jirga on the police investigation, the Kohat DIG said that police would solve this case as a test case and the perpetrator would not be allowed to escape.
