ISLAMABAD: Around 30 lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) gathered at a dinner meeting held at the Lahore residence of disgruntled PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and expressed solidarity with him.
According to the PTI sources, those attended the dinner included eight members of National Assembly (MNAs), two Punjab ministers, four provincial advisers and 21 members of Punjab Assembly.
As per sources, Tareen briefed the party members over what he called the ongoing ‘witch-hunt’ against him allegedly by Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Azam Khan and others.
According to the sources, the lawmakers assured Tareen of their full support against what they called the feudal and bureaucratic mindset hell bent to destroy the gains of PTI Chairman Imran Khan. They vowed to accompany Tareen to the court on Saturday.
Provincial Advisor Abdul Hai Dasti, Amir Mohammad Khan, Rafaaqat Gilani, Faisal Jabwana, Provincial Minister Malik Noman Langarial and Provincial Minister Ajmal Cheema also attended the dinner.
Prominent among those attended the dinner included Raja Riaz, Samiul Hassan Gilani, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Riaz Ahmed Laali, Sajjad Warraich, Salman Naeem, Iftikhar Gondal, Aun Chaudhry, Tahir Randhawa, Zawar Warraich, Nazir Baloch, Amin Chaudhry, Khurram Leghari, Aslam Bharwana, Nazir Chauhan, Asif Majeed, Bilal Waraich, Omar Aftab and others.
According to the sources, addressing the participants, Tareen said that he had decided to make another sacrifice for the nation and challenge the autocratic mindset prevailing around the prime minister. He said that in the next meeting, new faces would appear and the rebellion against Azam would continue to get stronger and stronger.
It may be recalled that PTI leader Tareen has once again decided to hold a full power show on the occasion of his appearance in the Baking Court on April 10.
Tareen called on like-minded party leaders at his residence on Friday to work out a strategy. He consulted his political colleagues on the next legal course of action, and we will take the opinion leaders into confidence.
