PM pays tribute to police for ‘heroic stand’ against TLP’s violence

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday paid tribute to the police force for their heroic stand against organised violence, what he said, was intended to create chaos to blackmail the government.
The prime minister, in a tweet, said that four police personnel were martyred and over 600 were injured during the protests.
He was referring to the recent violent protests by now defunct Tahreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) in different cities after the arrest of the party chief.
“I want to pay special tribute to our police force for their heroic stand against organised violence intended to create chaos to blackmail govt,” he said.
The prime minister said that the nation was indebted to those heroes and that the government would look after the families of the martyrs.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Friday visited the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi to inquire about the health of policemen and personnel of Pakistan Rangers, who injured during a clash with TLP supporters.
He said that the security personnel bravely tackled the situation and foiled an attempt to create chaos across the country.
He, appreciating the security personnel, said that they handled the mobs in a professional manner.
The minister said that no one would be allowed to blackmail the state, adding that strict action would be taken against those involved in violent and destructive activities.
Separately, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Friday said that a special cell comprising NADRA, Safe City Lahore and other agencies has been set up, which has been helping in identification of the people involved in violence against the police through videos.
In a tweet, the minister said that dozens of people have been identified so far and action is being taken against them under the anti-terrorism act.
He said that the district administration will also monitor all speeches.
NO RELIGION OR CONSTITUTION ALLOWS VIOLENCE AGAINST PEOPLE:
During the National Assembly (NA) session on Friday, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan, while responding to a point of order, said that no religion or constitution allows violence against people and the writ of the government would be maintained through strict action against those trying to create chaos.
The minister of state said that “we believe in Finality of Prophethood, and our objective is to follow the teachings of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and preach his message to whole humanity”.
He said that no one can be allowed to misguide the people in the name of religion and the government would ensure law and order in the country. He also said that the situation has returned to normalcy in the country after the steps taken by the government to deal with the violent protests of a religious group, and all the roads have been also opened.
The minister of state said that no group can be allowed to disturb the law and order situation and dictate its terms to the government. He said that neither the religion nor the constitution allows attacks on the police personnel.
The minister recalled that both the houses of the parliament passed unanimous resolutions strongly condemning the publication of blasphemous caricatures in France.
He said that Prime Minister Imran raised the issue strongly at every world forum while he also wrote letters to heads of all Islamic countries to have a dialogue with the West to sideline few such elements among them.
The speaker said that “we are all Aashiq-e-Rasool (PBUH) and can sacrifice our lives” for his sanctity.
The minister said that an agreement was made with a religious party to present their demands in the parliament and to implement its final decision. During the negotiation process, they gave a call to people to come out on April 20 which was unfair, he added.
About the speaker’s direction for presence of minister for interior in the House during the debate, he assured that the minister would take the House into confidence on Monday.
