Major reshuffle in federal bureaucracy

ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday has taken an important decision of transfers and postings of some of the federal secretaries of various ministries/divisions and issued notifications in this regards, it has been learnt reliably.

According to a notification, Sohail Rajput, a BPS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), presently posted as Special Secretary, Commerce Division has been transferred and posted as Secretary for Industries and Production Division with immediate effect and until further notice.

As per details, the government has taken the decision of transfers and postings in federal bureaucracy mainly owing to their performance and in larger public interests.

In a major reshuffle, the government has also transferred Afzal Latif, presently posted as Secretary, Industries, and Production to the Establishment Division and made as Secretary for Establishment Division while he has so far also taken charge as Secretary, Establishment Division.

“Mr Afzal Latif, a BPS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, presently posted as Secretary, Industries and Production Division, is transferred and posted as Secretary, Establishment Division, from the date of joining and until further orders,” said a notification issued by Establishment Division May 17.

Furthermore, Mian Asad Hayaud Din, Secretary Petroleum has taken 90-day leave and Dr. Arshad Mahmood, Secretary for Ministry of Science and Technology has been made as Secretary for Petroleum Division to run the affairs of petroleum division, while Nadeem Irshad Kayani has been appointed as Secretary for Ministry of Science and Technology.
