NCOC daily update: 2,607 new cases take total caseload to 989,275

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan confirmed 2,607 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre said on Sunday.

The NCOC, a department leading campaign against the pandemic, said that the number of total cases rose to 989,275, amidst the fears of a fourth wave.

According to a statement by the NCOC, Sindh has been the worst hit, with a total of 355,462 cases, followed by Punjab where the disease was detected in 350,259 people.

A total of 22,781 people died of the disease, including 21 patients who died over the last 24 hours, the NCOC said, adding that 2,508 are in critical condition.

The country has 47,331 active cases while 919,163 others have recovered from the disease.

The vaccination drive in the country has also picked up its pace with 513,082 doses administered to the public on Saturday, the NCOC said.

Some 18,185,297 people have been partially vaccinated and 4,550,696 others fully vaccinated, according to the latest official data.
