PML-N’s Ismail Gujjar served notice over controversial India remarks

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s candidate for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir LA-35 election, Chaudhry Ismail Gujjar, was served a show-cause notice by the party on Monday over a controversial statement he made a day ago.

According to Dawn, the party candidate had threatened to “call India for help” if the government attempted to rig the election.

“If you try to commit such an act [rig elections], I will call India for help … I warn you this is the election of Azad Kashmir and its people, let it be peaceful,” he said while speaking to the media in Gujranwala.

“A statement given by you appeared on the electronic media in which you have irresponsibly stated that you will seek help from India for your election,” the notice issued by PML-N Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal reads, asking Gujjar to furnish an explanation within seven days and warning him of strict disciplinary action if he failed to comply with the order.
