ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday said technology transfer, strong partnerships among educational institutions, industrial sector and government, and creating a suitable growth environment for the young people were the top priorities of his government.
He was chairing a high-level meeting to discuss the setting up of special technology zones across the country.
The prime minister directed to provide facilities available to tech entrepreneurs in other countries to the investors and business community in those special zones.
He further instructed to ensure the establishment of one-window operation initiatives to facilitate the business community.
Imran also directed the provincial governments to exploit the opportunities available in the international exhibition scheduled to be held in Dubai in October. Pakistan should inform the world of the opportunities available in its technology zones, he stressed.
Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab ministers for information technology and other officials attended the meeting. While Kashmir prime minister, Punjab and Balochistan chief ministers participated through the video link.
Special Technology Zones Authority head Amir Hashmi gave a detailed briefing about these zones and the facilities and incentives available to investors there.
The participants were told the aim of those special zones was to encourage technology transfer, foreign investment and promote human capital, research and development, employment creation, exports and import substitution.
Hashmi also told about the incentives given by the federal government to the investors in the special technology zones.
