Mother, daughter identify suspects in Lahore gang-rape case

LAHORE: A woman and her daughter, who were allegedly gang-raped last week in the Chung area of Lahore, have identified the prime suspects during identification parade held at Camp Jail, police said on Saturday.

Sources in police said that the suspects were presented before the victims, adding that the victims had to identify the perpetrators in presence of a magistrate and the jail staff.

The woman and her daughter on Thursday had recorded their statement before police, recalling the horrifying details of their calamity at the hands of the alleged rapist rickshaw driver.

The woman had said that they were not familiar with the routes of Lahore when they visited it from their area Thokar Niaz Baig. She said that she had been there only twice in her entire life.

When they reached Lahore and stepped down from their bus, they got into the rickshaw, whose driver offered to take them to the destination against Rs300.

The medico-legal report on the mother-daughter rape case had confirmed sexual assault was inflicted upon them.

The DNA samples of the two accused in the gang-rape case will be sent to a lab to establish whether these match with that of the victims, police said.
