ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has witnessed an ambitious increase in economic activity and subsequent employment generation, creating more than 50,000 jobs since the launch of the Kamyab Jawan programme, an adviser to the prime minister said.
Launched in October 2019 with an initial budget of Rs100 billion, the initiative aims to support youth nationwide through technical and financial assistance.
In a press statement issued Sunday, Usman Dar expressed satisfaction over the latest data of the programme, observing the number of its beneficiaries has increased manifold.
Dar said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government was extending financial and technical assistance to the youth to train them in high-tech trades and in opening their own businesses in various segments.
He said youth could secure soft loans worth millions of rupees by submitting business plans under a youth employment scheme. For a successful business, the youth needed a viable business model instead of heavy investment, he said.
The official said he was aware of the problems being faced by youth in getting loans under the initiative. The partner banks of the Jawan programme have been requested to expedite the disbursement process, he added.
Separately, Dar also tweeted the success story of one Muhammad Asif who succeeded in opening a dairy business in Khanewal after acquiring a loan under the programme.
Asif, in a video message, extended gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Jawan team for providing the youth with employment opportunities.
