Founding trio making hectic efforts to resolve BAP crisis

ISLAMABAD:  The chaos in the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has compelled the party’s founding trio including Senator Saeed Hashmi, former chief minister Jan Muhammad Jamali and Nawabzada Tariq Magsi to hold back-to-back huddles in Quetta to help thrash a solution to the revolt against Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan but no breakthrough could be made.

The opposition parties of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Balochistan National Party (Mengal) and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) had moved a no-confidence motion against the CM Balochistan.

The no-confidence motion triggered serious differences within the ruling BAP as over a dozen of its members revolted against their own CM Jam Kamal.

The disgruntled members demanded the resignation of the incumbent chief minister Jam Kamal Khan. However, Khan has refused to do so.

Sources in the BAP have told Pakistan Today requesting not being identified that the three elders of the BAP met with the rebel party leaders Abdul Quddus Bizenjo and Saleh Mohammad Bhitani besides Kamal Khan to help find an amicable solution to the crisis but failed.

On the other hand, the Jam Kamal group has expressed their anger on the rebel group’s plan to support a no-confidence move of the opposition alliance, arguing how treasury members could support a no-confidence motion tabled by the opposition.

Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, finance minister Mir Zahoor Buledi, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Bushra Rind, Muhammad Khan Lehri, Mir Sikandar Umrani and others have parted ways with the chief minister, Jam Kamal Khan.

Chairman Senate, Sadiq Sanjrani, Senator Sarfaraz Bugti, Senator Manzoor Kakar and others held a series of meetings with angry members and CM Balochistan to end the deadlock.

The rebel members also threatened to tender resignations in the case Jam Kamal remains CM of Balochistan. Although, no formal announcement was made in this regard.

The defiant members all gathered at the residence of speaker Qudooz Bizenjo to evolve an effective strategy on Saturday.

Opposition members also gathered at the residence of Malik Sikandar Advocate to ensure the success of the no-confidence motion against the CM.

A session of the Balochistan Assembly has been convened for September 21st and after a couple of days, the no-confidence motion would take place in the house of 65.

The ruling party is making hectic efforts to help resolve the situation, which may upset the ruling coalition in Balochistan.
