Pilot dies in PAF training plane crash

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Air Force pilot died on Wednesday after his trainer aircraft crashed during a routine exercise near Mardan city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a spokesperson said.

“A small PAF aircraft has crashed near Mardan during a routine training mission,” a PAF statement said. “A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.”

There was no immediate cause cited for the crash, however.

This is the fourth such incident reported by the force in less than two years. A training plane had also crashed in August during a routine exercise near Attock.

In September last, a fighter crashed near Attock during training drills. Before that, in February, a Mirage jet crashed near Shorkot in Punjab.
