FIA initiates action against makers of ‘fake’ Covid vaccine certificates

ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency Director General Sanaullah Abbasi on Monday said action has been initiated against individuals generating fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates.

Addressing a press conference, he said the step was taken as per guidelines of the National Command and Operation Center and so far, 41 people have been arrested and cases have been registered.

He said people who received certificates from these people were under probe by the FIA and the agency has called many of them, it’s and calling others as well.

He said their certificates have been cancelled and the FIA has been working with a tracking system to trace these people who were committing such crimes that could lead to death.

He said though the scale of the operation was small — as more than 75 million doses were administered so far — the people should beware of them.

He said these people were bringing embarrassment to the nation and the state as a whole. “I urge the nation to complete their families’ vaccination under the free nationwide inoculation programme as per law.”
