Political heavyweights join PTI as PM flexes muscles to win interior Sindh

ISLAMABAD: In a major political breakthrough, former chief minister Sindh Syed Ghous Ali Shah along with other political heavyweights called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and announced they would be joining the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Others who joined the ruling party included former federal minister Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Syed Safdar Ali Shah and Barrister Mustafa Mehsar.

Former ministers Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Sadaqat Ali Jatoi, MNA J. Prakash, Syed Zulfiqar Shah, Gul Muhammad Rind, Syed Jalal Mehmood Shah, Allah Bakhsh Unnar, Raja Khan Jhakrani, Ali Mughiri, Asad Shah and Ameer Bukhsh Bhutto were also present who met the premier.

Federal Ministers Asad Umar, Syed Ali Zaidi, Special Assistant to PM Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Aleem Adil Shaikh were present in the meetings.

The premier welcomed the political leaders in the party and expressed his desire to expand the PTI to deep into Interior Sindh.

According to a source within the PTI, Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to mobilise the public across Sindh Province, and in this regard, the premier has decided to hold political rallies across Sindh Province.

“In these rallies to be held in Sindh, political heavyweights will join the PTI. Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened an important meeting of party leaders in the federal capital which the Sindh Plan will be finalized,” the sources added.

The source said that the names of the Sindh Advisory Committee will also be finalized in this meeting.

“Important decisions would also be taken to tackle the obstacles to the execution of federal projects across Sindh as well as consultations with political leadership would also be made on action to be taken against provincial bureaucrats involved in corrupt practices,” the source said.

In addition, it was reported that PTI has also decided to give a tough time to the Pakistan People’s Party and the possibility of upheaval is also being discussed. The top leadership of the PTI has also started extensive contacts with the political heavyweights in this regard, the source said.
