Court orders treatment after Lyari kingpin complains of poor vision

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court in Karachi on Saturday ordered the provision of medical facilities to Lyari violence linchpin Uzair Baloch who is said to be suffering from weakening vision.

Baloch approached the court through his counsel, Abid Zaman, maintaining he was suffering from a poor vision which coupled with pain could cause an infection.

At this, the court directed the Karachi Central Jail superintendent to ensure he was provided necessary medical facilities and furnish a compliance report in this regard on October 7.

Around 61 cases of heinous crimes have been registered against Baloch at several police stations of the city. He has been acquitted in some cases for want of evidence.

On September 15, the Sindh High Court (SHC) had issued notices on a petition against the shifting of Baloch from the Central Jail Karachi to the Rangers’ Metharam Hostel by declaring it a sub-jail.
