Strife in BAP intensifies, Sadiq Sanjarani meets with aggrieved lawmakers

ISLAMABAD – Fresh efforts are afoot to help get Balochistan chief minister Jam Kamal Khan out of the ongoing political quagmire as the disgruntled leaders of the ruling Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) are not ready to budge.

Sources in the ruling party have told Pakistan Today that despite intervention from Prime Minister Imran Khan, the disgruntled BAP leaders including Aslam Bhotani, Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Noor Mohammad Dummar and Toor Utmankhail are not ready to reconcile.

The sources said that the major issue is about not giving a major share of Public Sector Development Projects (PSDP) to the BAP leaders. However, the chief minister is defiant and is not ready to give share as political bribe.

The sources said that Jam Kamal Khan is perhaps the first chief minister who has put the PSDP on the digital space and every detail of the development projects has been put online. Efforts by the Balochistan chief minister to persuade members of his own party, the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), have so far failed.

However, Jam Kamal has been successful in convincing Prime Minister Imran Khan and other key stakeholders on his performance and his initiatives to make governance transparent in the province which has a history of corruption and plunder by past chief ministers.

On the other hand, the opposition is still pressuring Jam Kamal through a no-confidence motion. No meeting has been convened yet so far on the no-confidence motion filed by the opposition members.

Despite being greeted at home by the Balochistan chief minister, provincial minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran is still angry. Both the BAP members have not given any concrete hope to Jam Kamal.

Meanwhile, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjarani reached Quetta on Sunday on a rescue mission in view of the ongoing controversy in the BAP and to save the Balochistan Chief Minister’s government.

Earlier, the Senate chairman met with the chief minister and the disgruntled lawmakers, and gave them 15 days to settle their differences.

Sadiq Sanjarani met Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal in Quetta and discussed the political turmoil in the province. The Senate chairman is also tried to allay the concerns of angry members of the BAP during the visit.

Sources said that the Chairman Senate was accompanied by Naseebullah Baazai, Abdul Qadir, Manzoor Kakar and other senators. Sources said that the Chairman Senate discussed the political situation in Balochistan.
