ISLAMABAD: A soldier was killed when terrorists targeted a check post of the security forces in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an Inter-Services Public Relations statement said on Monday.
The troops responded promptly following the attack and a clearance operation is in progress to eliminate any terrorist found in the area, the military’s media wing said.
During the exchange of fire with the terrorists, Sepoy Muhammad Amir Iqbal, 30, embraced martyrdom.
A surge in terrorist attacks on security forces in Pakistan has recently been witnessed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The ISPR said on Saturday that five security personnel were killed when terrorists attacked their vehicle in North Waziristan.
