PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) granted two months respite to National Accountability Bureau to filed detailed reports in the Bank of Khyber and Billion Tree Tsunami scandals.
A two-member bench of the Peshawar High Court comprising Justice Rohul Amin and Justice Syed Atiq Shah granted two months to the NAB to file a detailed report on the writ petitions related to the Billion Tsunami Tree Bank of Khyber and Malam Jabba scandals.
The bench issues direction while hearing a petition filed by a citizen petitioner Adil Zarif. During the hearing, the petitioner lawyer Ali Gohar Durrani argued that NAB had started its inquiries into the BoK and Billion Tree Tsunami scam but the investigation was shut down due to the involvement of influential people. He said that it was illegal to stop the inquiries so necessary orders should be issued to restart the investigation into both scams.
During the hearing, Additional Prosecutor General NAB Azeem Dad and Senior Prosecutor NAB Muhammad Ali told the court that the inquiry into the Billion Tree projects’ of DI Khan section has been complete and references would soon be submitted in this regard soon. He said that the investigations in other regions is still ongoing and report would be submitted after completing the process.
During the hearing, the protesters also told the court that the inquiry into Bank of Khyber has been completed and sent to the headquarters. He added that now the headquarters will take its decision to file reference. The court directed the authorities to complete the investigation -‘s adjourned the case till 8 December.
