A strong earthquake in different parts of Balochistan killed at least 20 people and injured more than 300 others early Thursday morning, as rescue efforts remain underway.
Pakistani cricketers, including the national side’s skipper, Babar Azam, stated that the entire cricket fraternity is “devastated” to hear about the earthquake that struck Balochistan on early Thursday morning as they prayed for the victims.
The earthquake affected Quetta, Sibi, Harnai, Pishin, Qila Saifullah, Chaman, Ziarat, and Zhob in Balochistan. The magnitude of the quake was measured at 5.9 on the Richter scale.
Babar, Imam-ul-Haq, Shadab Khan, Ahmed Shahzad, and other Pakistani cricketers expressed their grief and asked the people of the province to remain strong.
“Terrible to wake up to this sad news. Prayers with the lovely and brave people of Balochistan. I hope and pray that the situation remains under control with immediate rescue efforts. Stay safe and strong, Balochistan.”, stated Babar Azam.
“May Allah comfort everyone in Balochistan and keep them safe. Lots of prayers for the people who have been affected by the earthquake.”, stated Imam ul Haq
Fawad Alam also took to Twitter and stated that “Gutted to hear about the #earthquake in Harnai. May Allah keep everyone safe and give patience to all the families who lost their loved ones. Prayers all the way.”
“Devastated to wake up to this terrible news of Quetta #earthquake. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Harnai. May Allah keep everyone safe Ameen.” tweeted Ahmad Shahzad.
Hassan Ali also took to Twitter and stated that “Lots of prayers for everyone in #Balochistan. May Allah grant health to all those who are injured and give comfort to the families who have lost their loved ones. Duas for all the departed souls”
