ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday accepted the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) petition seeking to secure access to the accounts of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the foreign funding case against it.
The commission accepted the request of the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib during a hearing on the case here.
Talking to the media after the hearing, the minister said the PML-N had kept seven accounts while the PPP kept 12 accounts secret from the Election Commission of Pakistan.
He said he requested the commission to give the ruling party access to the financial accounts of both parties for an audit. He hailed the acceptance of his petition, saying the parties were defeated big in the Kashmir by-election.
The minister vowed to bring the facts before the nation which he declared the PPP and PML-N were hiding.
“We will bring to light the fake accounts of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz,” he said.
He stated these people have hidden their corruption owing to delay by the ECP to make a decision on his petition. “Now, we would not let them run away,” he added.
Habib expressed the resolved that after analysing the accounts of the PPP and PML-N, the government would put the record before the scrutiny committee and “our financial experts would assess these accounts”.
