BAP leader says ‘game over’ for Balochistan chief minister

QUETTA: Urging Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan to step down, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) de facto chief Jan Mohammad Jamali declared the “chief minister’s game was over”.

Khan has been facing opposition from a group of ministers and party lawmakers in the provincial assembly who demand his resignation as chief minister, saying they do not want to work with him anymore.

The lawmakers are expected to present later today a no-confidence motion in the assembly against the chief minister.

Late last month, as many as 14 lawmakers, including 11 from BAP and three from allied parties, had submitted a no-confidence motion against the chief minister.

Jamali, who heads the posse within the party, said he had last week advised Khan to resign.

Responding to Jamali, Khan Tuesday said these people have been “playing games in Balochistan for a long time”.

“Balochistan must be a game for Mr Jan Jamali but not Jam Kamal. We have come here to serve and shall till the last day. Kindly carry on [with yo]ur ‘games'”.

Khan, who was also president of the BAP, resigned from the party office earlier this month. Reports suggested he had been facing opposition from some ministers and lawmakers in the party who had demanded that he resign as the chief minister.
