Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Wildlife Department has conducted bidding for Markhor trophy hunting.
According to the department’s press release, bidders from Pakistan and Turkey participated in the bidding process.
The highest bid of $160,250 was offered by M/S Mehran Safari for a single Markhor to be hunted at Toshi-I area of district Chitral.
It is the highest rate ever offered in the history of Markhor trophy hunting, added the press release.
The second highest bid of $155,100 was offered by M/S Shikar Safari for a single Markhor to be hunted at Toshi-II area of Chitral.
Similarly, the third highest bid of $135,150 was offered by M/S Shikar Safari for a single Markhor to be hunted at Keigah, Kohistan.
Whereas, the fourth highest bid of $125,100 was offered by M/S Shikar Safari for a single Markhor to be hunted at Gehrait, Chitral.
Eighty percent of the proceeds from the trophy hunting programme are distributed among the local communities and funds are transferred to their bank accounts for community development and wildlife conservation activities in the respective villages.
