Court grants interim bail to accused in Nazim Jokhio murder case

KARACHI: Additional district and Sessions judge Malir on Saturday granted interim bail to co-accused Saleem Halar in the high-profile murder case of Nazim Jokhio.

Malir’s district court admitted the bail application of Saleem Halar and ordered him to deposit Rs 3,00,000 bail bond as surety in the court.

The court also ordered the accused to appear before the court on November 22. It is noted that the slain Nazim Jokhio had uploaded a video on social media to stop foreigners from hunting, after which his tortured body was found in Malir Memon Goth.

The family of the slain had nominated Jam Owais Ghuram, a member of the Sindh Assembly of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), for the alleged murder of Nazim after he tried to prevent the PPP MPA’s guests from hunting in Thatta district.

Memon Goth police registered an FIR against PPP lawmaker Jam Awais and others on charges of killing Jokhio. According to police investigative sources, it has been decided to use the audio and video of the alleged Nazim Jokhio as key evidence. Earlier, the court extended the physical remand of accused Jam Owais Ghuram and others till November 16.
