QUETTA: A powerful earthquake jolted several cities of Balochistan, including Quetta and its surrounding town, on Saturday.
The tremors were also felt in Ziarat, Pishin, Khanozai and Bostan towns. The intensity of the earthquake was recorded at 4.8 on the Richter scale.
There were no further readings of the earthquake available immediately but it followed a series of quakes rattling cities in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Only last week, an earthquake jolted a host of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cites. This was the second earthquake in as many days to have jolted the province.
On Thursday, earthquake tremors had been felt in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Friday’s earthquake was measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale with its epicentre in Hindukush mountainous region in Afghanistan. Its underground depth was recorded at 226 kilometres.
Thursday’s tremors were felt in and around several areas of the Khyber District. According to the US Geological Survey, the intensity of the earthquake was 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale,
Earlier on December 7, tremors were felt in and around Swat. The quake was measured at 4.4.
