Pakistan continue their dominant run in U19 Asia Cup

After registering victories against India and Afghanistan earlier in the competition, Pakistan continued their dominant run by securing victory against UAE U19 by 21 runs on Monday.

Pakistan opted to bat first against the host nation and managed to post a decent total of 219/8 on the board.

Opener Abdul Wahid Bangalzai scored 28 off 48 balls while last match hero Muhammad Shehzad made 29 off 57 balls.

In the middle overs, skipper Qasim Akram batted with control and hit a fifty. He fell to Nilansh Keswani soon after reaching the landmark. He stroked five fours.

Wicketkeeper Haseebullah also contributed crucial 39 off 48 balls while Ahmad Khan smacked 21-ball 34*.

For UAE, Aayan Afzal Khan took three for 44 while Keswani bagged 2/32.

In return, UAE did not get off to the best possible start as they lost the wicket of Shival Bawa in the fourth over. The breakthrough was provided by Mohammad Zeeshan, who also removed Aayan Afzal later in the game; ending up with figures of 2-34 after 9 overs.

Although some resistance was provided by Kai Smith (38) and Soorya Sathis (22), UAE lost quick wickets in succession which hurt their chances of salvaging the game very difficult.

UAE found themselves in all sorts of trouble as Kai was removed by Maaz Sadaqat and Soorya was sent back to the pavilion by Mehran Mumtaz, both proving to be two of the most economical bowlers.

Skipper Alishan Sharafu scored a fighting 35 but Qasim Akram removed him as Abdul Bangalzai held on to his catch. Nilansh Keswani and Ali Naseer’s wickets were also taken by Qasim Akram.

Qasim Akram took three wickets whereas Maaz Sadaqat, Mehran Mumtaz, and Mohammad Zeeshan all took two wickets each.
