LAHORE: The institution of the judiciary has become the latest victim of the coronavirus as seven more judges of district and sessions, and civil courts tested positive for the pandemic in Lahore on Monday.
The judges have isolated themselves in their respective homes, it was learnt.
The infected include Additional District and Sessions Judges Kashif Qayyum, Muhammad Rizwan, Mian Mudassar Umar, Samina Hayat; Model Town Katchehry Judicial Magistrate Haris Munir, and civil judges Muhammad Anwar and Saba Qamar.
The staff of the infected judges has been directed to test themselves for coronavirus.
Separately, all judges, lawyers and judicial officials have also been ordered to follow the health guidelines.
The latest wave of the pandemic fueled by the Omicron variant of the disease is preying hard on the judiciary. As many as 27 judges of the lower judiciary in Islamabad and Lahore and nearly 60 members of the judicial staff have tested positive for the viral disease since late last year.
