FIA files contempt petition in special court against Shehbaz Sharif

LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Monday filed a contempt of court petition in a special court (central) against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif for hindering the court proceedings.

Shehbaz Sharif, Kashif Majid, Azhar Abbas, Muhammad Aslam, and Muhammad Usman have been made respondents in the petition.

It was adopted in the petition that the PML-N president distorted facts in his 45-minute uncalled-for speech in the court on February 18 last which hindered the court proceedings.

It was also maintained in the petition that the suspects intentionally submitted a frivolous application to hamper the court proceedings when a process for their conviction was about to begin.

“Statements of witnesses and bank authorities have provided to the suspects,” the petition stated and requested the court to take action against the suspects.
