Opposition mulls bringing no-trust move against govt in first week of March

In telephonic conversation, Shehbaz, Fazl agree to rev up anti-govt drive

ISLAMABAD: PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and PDM Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have decided to intensify the anti-government campaign as the opposition has prepared a strategy to table the no-confidence motion against the incumbent government in the National Assembly.

According to sources, the opposition wants to move a no-trust motion against the government and for this purpose, it would ask NA Speaker Asad Qaiser to call assembly session immediately. The opposition will submit the requisition in the first week of March.

The decision to request for summoning the assembly session was unanimously taken by a nine-member committee of the opposition. However, the central leadership will decide when the requisition will be submitted to the speaker.

As soon as the assembly would be in session, the opposition would move a no-confidence
motion, the sources said.

In the backdrop of the opposition’s ongoing anti-government efforts, Shehbaz and Fazl made a telephonic contact, decided to step up the anti-government drive to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan and discussed the contacts between opposition members and government allies.

They also exchanged views on the recommendations forwarded by the committee
formed on the no-confidence motion.

Sources revealed that both Shehbaz and Fazl decided to meet in Islamabad in a few days to take a final decision on the no-trust move and other issues.
