ISLAMABAD: Shehbaz Sharif was given a guard of honour at Prime Minister’s House as he assumed the responsibilities on Tuesday.
Graft-tained Sharif reviewed the guard as the contingents of the armed forces presented a salute to him.
The newly-elected prime minister was also introduced to the officials and staff of PM House.
Sharif took oath as the 23rd prime minister of Pakistan a day earlier. He was administered the oath by Senate chairman Sadiq Sanjarani after President Arif Alvi complained of “discomfort” and was advised bed rest, according to his Twitter account.
Sharif was elected as the premier after the ouster of his predecessor Imran Khan through a no-confidence vote.
He secured 174 votes in the National Assembly after Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) boycott the process and quit the assembly en masse.
The poll took place under the chairmanship of MP Ayaz Sadiq.
