Sharif govt withdraws all investigations against Cheema

LAHORE: The government of Shehbaz Sharif Saturday withdrew the charge sheet against civil servant and former Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general Ahad Cheema.

A government notification announced that all pending inquiries against Cheema have been dismissed.

In April last, Cheema was released from jail after pre-conviction incarceration spanning over three years in connection with separate references of corruption and abuse of authority filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

It merits a mention here that Cheema was the first high-profile person to be arrested in Punjab by the dirty money watchdog before the general elections of 2018.

A BPS-19 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Cheema was heading the LDA during the previous PML-N government in Punjab.

Also, in recognition of his services in constructing the Lahore Metrobus service, Cheema was conferred the award of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
