Old Pakistan

The title of this letter refers to Bilawal Bhutto’s remarks on the sacred floor of Parliament when after the no-confidence motion was passed, he said “welcome back to Purana Pakistan” (old Pakistan). One is convinced that Bilawal is truthful in his saying, because there is nothing new in Pakistan. Our political leaders used conventional ways to destabilise Pakistan politically. Yes, this is old Pakistan because no Prime Minister has completed the five-year tenure. Now, again there would be hue and cry of rising inflation, absence of rule of law, a debt-ridden economy and most important of all the oldest aspect of Pakistan’s “dictated foreign policy.” Yes, congratulations! Pakistan the “Old Pakistan”.
