Pakistani athletes win five medals at Imam Reza Int’l Athletics Championships

MASHHAD: Pakistani athletes won five medals to finish third on the points table at the Imam Reza International Athletics Championships that ended here on Monday.

According to information made available by the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), the Pakistani athletes claimed two gold medals, two silver medal and one bronze medal in the event.

Athletes from Iran, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan featured in the event.

The AFP had fielded four athletes, including Shajar Abbas, Abdul Mueed, Sharoz Khan and Muhammad Yasir in the championship.

Shajar earned gold in 200m, Yasir won gold in javelin with a 74.83m throw while Sharoz and Abdul Mueed clinched silver medals in high jump and 400m race respectively.

The AFP president and secretary general congratulated the wining athletes on their achievements.
