ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has proposed cut in petrol of government officials, including president, prime minister, federal ministers and provincial governments, by 50 per cent to provide relief to the people.
The PPP Central Secretary General Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari in a statement in Islamabad said that at the government level, 50 per cent of petrol savings should be given to the people on essential items.
He said that the increase in petrol prices is the result of Imran Khan-led government’s agreements with the IMF. He added that every effort is being made to facilitate the people and trade is the priority instead of aid.
The former rulers have left the ailing economy, which will be brought back on its feet and full relief will be provided to the people, he maintained.
The PPP leader further said that difficult decisions of self-reliance and self-sufficiency would have to be taken to get out of the clutches of international financial institutions.
