PM Shehbaz appeals nation to follow SOPs amid COVID-19 surge

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif Wednesday appealed the nation to follow the anti-COVID SOPs as a surge was being recorded in the coronavirus cases in the country.

The prime minister, in a tweet, said that the front line workers and doctors had rendered numerous sacrifices to keep the countrymen safe from the disease.

Therefore, he urged the people not to squander the successes achieved against the coronavirus.

It merits mention that Pakistan has reported one death in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of confirmed positive cases has surged to 1,535,144. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 30,393 on Wednesday.

According to the latest figures by the National Institute of Health (NIH), at least 541 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 across the country in the past 24 hours.

Pakistan has conducted 15,462 tests in the past 24 hours out of which 541 persons were tested positive for the disease. The COVID Positivity Ratio was recorded at 3.50 percent.
