Operation on to rescue 10 miners trapped in coalmine

THATTA: A rescue operation has been underway in Jhimpir coalmine to safely evacuate 10 miners trapped in the mine since Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Jhimpir on Tuesday when rainwater flooded the coalmine, leaving 10 miners trapped. No mine worker yet taken to safety from the coal pit. Local labourers, Rescue 1122 rescuers and the Thatta district administration have been engaged in the rescue operation to safely evacuate the trapped miners.

However, the rescue workers facing difficulty due to rainfall, informed Thatta Deputy Commissioner Ghazanfar Ali.

Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh has said that a rescue operation has been underway for safe evacuation of the miners from the mine.
