Birthday of Thai king: Bell of Peace installed at Swat Museum

SWAT: The Inauguration of Bell of Peace on the birth anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand was held here at Swat Museum.

A colourful ceremony was organized to install the Bell of Peace in the name of Prince Miangul Adnan Aurangzeb (late) at Swat Museum.

On the occasion, the most venerable and chief monk of Thailand Mr Arayawangso started the Bell of Peace ceremony by ringing the bell.

Speaking to the audience, Mr Arayawangso said that Swat valley had been revered land for the Buddhists in the past and where they dwelt in peace, which was why the bell of peace was installed here to give a message of peace from this valley to the world.

On this occasion, the birthday anniversary of King Rama X of the Kingdom of Thailand was also celebrated. The ceremony was also attended by Colonel Adisak Showichen, Military and Defense Attaché, the Royal Thai Embassy, Islamabad, elders of the district, and former Swat state royal family members.

“The revival of civilization for peace and welfare can really happen when the moral spirit of mankind returns to this sacred land once again. Now, all of us who wish for a peaceful survival make a mindful intent and send it through the sound of the bell of peace to everyone everywhere in the world,” Mr Arayawangso stressed.

He said that the late prince Miangul Adnan Aurangzeb had invited him to visit Swat valley to install the bell of peace. “Unfortunately today, he is not among us but we came and installed the bell of peace here in the Swat Museum,” he said and prayed for eternal peace and rest of the departed soul.

Colonel Adisak Showichen, the military and defense attaché, of the Royal Thai Embassy read a message of blessings in wake of the celebration of birth day of King Rama.

He said that he was beyond doubt that the ring of the bell would send a peace message all over the world.

At the end of the ceremony, Imran Shaukat, the organizer, and host of the Buddhist monks’ trip thanked the embassy of Thailand and the Buddhist monks for visiting and installing the bell of peace in Pakistan.

National anthems of Pakistan and Thailand were also played on the occasion.

Meanwhile, followers of Buddhism also visited historic sites: But Kara, Saidu Stupa, Amluk Dara Stupa, Apsidal Temple and Jehanabad Buddha, where they performed their religious rituals.

YOUTH KILLS FATHER, BROTHER OVER PROPERTY

A youth shot dead his father and younger brother over a land dispute in Malooka village of Kabal Tehsil here on Friday.

According to Kanju Police SHO Mohmmad Ayaz Khan, the accused identified as 43-year-old Amir Badshah allegedly shot and killed his father, 75-year-old Mohim Badshah and younger brother 33-year-old Iqbal Badshah. The accused managed to escape after the incident. The dead bodies were shifted to THQ Hospital Kabal.

The police said that an FIR was registered against the accused and further investigation was underway.
