LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday visited Lahore where he held a meeting with newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi and his son Moonis Elahi.
According to the source, the former prime minister and the Punjab CM discussed the formation of the provincial cabinet and other issues.
On the occasion, Pervaiz Elahi also apprised the PTI chairman of the government’s measures to help the flood victims.
In this regard, Imran Khan issued instructions to CM Elahi to speed up the relief activities in the flood-affected areas.
According to sources the names of MPAs from the PTI and PML-Q were discussed and shortlisted for the Punjab cabinet portfolios.
It is learnt that Raja Basharat will likely get the portfolio of the law ministry, Murad Raas will be given education ministry, Yasmin Rashid is likely to get the health ministry while Hashim Jawan Bakht’s name has been finalized for finance ministry.
Moreover, Fawad Chaudhry is likely to get the portfolio of the home minister, said sources.
Mian Aslam Iqbal, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Chaudhry Zaheeruddin, Hafiz Muhammad Mumtaz, Samiulllah Chaudhry, Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Yasir Humayun Raja and Taimur Khan Bhatti will also get ministerial slots in the Punjab cabinet.
Furthermore, Muhammad Abdullah Waraich, Muhammad Rizwan, Sajid Ahmed Khan, Ahsanul Haq Chaudhry, and Khadija Omar will be added to the provincial cabinet as ministers.
According to the press release issued by the Punjab government, the PTI Chief congratulated CM Pervaiz Elahi on the ouster of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz-led government. The CM and PTI Chief discussed the political situation and matters pertaining to providing relief to the people of Punjab.
Later, Punjab Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi chaired a meeting regarding the repercussions of recent floods and rains in the province. The CM announced to provide a relief package for flood-affected families.
An amount of Rs800,000 will be provided to families of those people who died due to floods. A committee would estimate losses and distribute relief packages among the deserving.
The CM also ordered the rebuilding of damaged roads on an emergency basis and established medical camps in the province. Flood-affected people would also be vaccinated against viral diseases.
