Anti-narcotics force seizes over 2,000 kilogrammes drugs

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted operations in different areas of the country during the last 24 hours, seizing over 2,000 kilogrammes of drugs and arresting three suspects, an officer said.

According to a spokesperson of the agency, the ANF conducted an intelligence-based operation in Pishin district of the southwest Balochistan province and seized 1,312 kilogrammes of hashish.

In another operation, the ANF intercepted a coal-laden truck at the Kharlachi border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officers seized 32 kilogrammes of opium and more than 400 kilogrammes of hashish hidden in the truck and smuggled from Afghanistan, the spokesperson said, adding the driver of the truck was arrested on the spot.

Meanwhile, in another operation in KP, the ANF seized 144 kilogrammes of hashish from an uninhabited area in North Waziristan district, said the spokesperson.

The seized narcotics were hidden in shrubs for further smuggling across the country, the spokesperson added.

Separately, over 130 kilogrammes of narcotics were seized near the capital Islamabad, and 142 kilogrammes from the eastern Sheikhupura district in two intelligence-based operations, with two suspects being arrested, said the spokesperson.
