ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reiterated its call to the international community to hold India accountable for gross and systematic violations of international humanitarian law in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Speaking at a weekly press briefing in Islamabad, the Foreign Office Spokesperson said, Pakistan reiterates its call to the international community to hold India accountable for its gross and systematic violations of international humanitarian law and ensure that Pakistani and Kashmiri prisoners under Indian custody were not expended as cannon fodder in the execution of India’s nefarious designs in the IIOJK.
The spokesperson demanded release of all illegally detained Kashmiri political prisoners and Hurriyat leaders, particularly Yasin Malik, who are languishing in different jails of IIOJK and India. He said Pakistan also condemned India’s continued detention of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who was not allowed to deliver Friday sermons today.
“Pakistan rejects Indian occupation authorities’ sinister move to grant voting rights to Indian citizens in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir that reeks of the sinister designs of institutionalizing settler colonialism,” he added.
The spokesperson said the realization of sustainable peace, stability and prosperity in South Asia remained contingent upon peaceful resolution of the long-standing Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
He maintained that it is the responsibility of the international community to come together and demand for India’s compliance with its international obligations within the agreed legal framework espoused by the comity of civilized nations and in keeping with numerous UNSC resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesperson also expressed deep concern over the gravely disturbing developments and increasing intolerance in India. “Let me reiterate Pakistan’s strong condemnation of sacrilegious remarks against the Holy Prophet (PBUH) made by another BJP official. This is the second time in the last three months that a senior BJP leader has made disrespectful comments towards our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) denoting the worrying yet unmistakable slide of today’s India towards Islamophobia,” he said.
World community urged to stand up for oppressed Kashmiris
In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, political experts and analysts have urged the international community to stand up for the oppressed Kashmiris who are facing the worst Indian state terrorism for the last over seven decades.
The political experts and analysts in their statements and interviews in Srinagar said that every freedom and justice loving person must raise voice for the subjugated people of IIOJK as every single voice raised in support of the Kashmiris will surely make a difference.
They said, supporting the beleaguered Kashmiris is to support humanity. “It is time to stand up for the Kashmiri people before it is too late. It is time to raise voice for the voiceless people of IIOJK. It is time to stop Modi regime from killing Kashmiris in fake encounters. It is time to halt demographic changes being made by Modi regime in IIOJK,” they said.
The political experts and analysts maintained that the Muslim Ummah must wake up from slumber and raise its voice for suppressed Kashmiris. They said, the world community must shun its double standards and help the Kashmiris exercise their right to self-determination.
The political experts and analysts asked Modi to remember that his cruel methods in IIOJK are bound to backfire. Modi and his henchmen must be brought to book for employing brutal measures to suppress Kashmiris, they said and urged the UN to honour its commitments regarding the Kashmir dispute.
