IHC says suspended ECP notification in MP Abdul Shakoor’s case only

ISLAMABAD: While hearing a petition of  Abdul Shakoor Shad against the acceptance of his resignation by the National Assembly speaker, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday clarified the notification of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was suspended for Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MP only.

“The petitioner was Abdul Shakoor Shad, and therefore, the notification is suspended for one Member of Parliament only,” the court explained.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the petition of Shad and said: “The notification was not suspended for all the members who resigned.”

The counsel for Shad told the court the ECP had issued a notification for 11 MPs.

“Yes! But this notification is suspended for one member only,” the judge replied and adjourned the hearing of the case.
