LHC suspends ECP’s contempt notices to Imran Khan, Fawad

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Rawalpindi bench on Wednesday suspended the contempt notices issued to former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and his party leader Fawad Chaudhry by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and formed a three-member larger bench to hear the case.

The bench, comprising Justice Jawad Hassan, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf, will now hear the case on September 29, 2022.

Senior judge of the LHC Justice Jawadul Hassan heard the petitions filed by Imran and Fawad through their counsels Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry against the notices issued to them in which both of them had contended that the election commission was not authorized to initiate contempt of court proceedings.
