176,829 electricity connections remained pending in DISCOs, KE till June 30

ISLAMABAD: As many as 176,829 new electricity connections were remained pending in power distribution companies (DISCOs) including K-Electric till June.

Sources in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) told APP here that the total load of these connections was estimated as 1,214,699.49 Kilowatt (KW).

Sharing details of the connections, they said that highest number of pending connections were in Multan Electric Supply Company (MEPCO), which stood at 80,031, followed by 50,832 in Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) during the said period.

Similarly, 12,827 connections were pending in Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), 10,892 in Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), 11,114 in Gujranwala Electric Supply Company (GEPCO), 6,324 in KE, 1,988 in Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO), 1,297 in Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), 754 in Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO), 713 in Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) and 57 in Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO).

Moreover, NEPRA received a total of 12,436 complaints against various DISCOs and National Transmission Despatch Company (NTDC) during last fiscal year 2021-22.

Out of total received complaints, some 11,807 have already been disposed of while 629 complaints were still under process during the said period.

The authority received highest number of complaints 5716 against K-Electric followed by 1489 against LESCO while lowest only two complaints were filed against TESCO.

Similarly, some 1415 consumers lodged complaints against HESCO, 952 SEPCO, FESCO 653, PESCO 626, GEPCO 380, IESCO 288 and QESCO 135 during FY 2021-22.

NEPRA also received three complaints against NTDC and one against Bahria Town Private Ltd during the said period.
