PAC seeks PSF performance report within month

ISLAMABAD: The Public Account Committee (PAC) Wednesday directed Federal Secretary for Science and Technology to submit performance report of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) within a month.

The PAC, which met here with Noor Alam Khan in the chair, took exception to the violation of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules in the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The audit authorities were directed to submit a report to the PAC in that regard.
The committee also reviewed the audit objections of year 2019-20 of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

On the issue of illegal recruitment, the secretary admitted that the illegality in the appointments and promotions in the department.

Noor Alam said the secretary was responsible to maintain all kinds of discipline in his institution. The PAC referred the matter of illegal appointments and promotions to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The body directed the concerned to determine matter in one month that who was responsible in the regard.

As regards the funds placement in private banks by the independent institutions, the Finance Division informed that investment in the banks by the independent institutions had been banned.

The Chairman PAC directed that a letter should be written to all the independent institutions and they should be instructed to avoid keeping and investing their funds in private banks under the 2019 policy.
