KARACHI: Like their counterparts living in other cities of the country, members of the Hindu community residing in the Mirpur Khas district of Sindh also celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, with jubilation and enthusiasm on Monday.
A ceremony was arranged by Zulfiqar Ali Mahar, a deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Sindh police, in the local police office on Saturday.
According to a police handout, retired Capt. Muhammad Asad Chaudhry, senior superintendent of police (SSP) of Mirpur Khas, and other policemen also attended the event.
Mahar felicitated police and staff belonging to the Hindu community, and distributed sweets and gifts among them.
He noted the community has always played a vital role in the development and prosperity of Pakistan and expressed satisfaction over the fact that they enjoy equal rights in accordance with the Constitution.
