ISLAMABAD: Former Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi paid rich tributes to senior Hurriyat Conference leader Maulana Abbas Ansari who died in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir two days back.
“Deeply saddened on sad passing of senior Hurriyat leader Maulana Abbas Ansari, the icon of unwavering resolve for freedom movement of Jammu & Kashmir. Ansari sahab throughout his life worked for unity of Muslims of Kashmir. May Allah almighty bless departed soul in Jannah. Aameen,” Afridi wrote in a tweet on social media blogging site.

Meanwhile, the funeral prayer in absentia for senior martyred All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader, Maulana Abbas Ansari, was offered in Islamabad on Wednesday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the funeral prayer in absentia organized by APHC-AJK chapter was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life.
Senior leader of APHC-AJK chapter, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, led the funeral prayer. Hurriyat leaders including APHC-AJK Convener Mahmood Ahmad Saghar, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mir Tahir Masood, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Syed Yousaf Naseem and Muhammad Rafique Dar, besides representative of oversees Pakistanis Ghulam Muhammad Butt and Human Rights Council of Pakistan leader Jamshed Hussain also attended the funeral prayer.
On this occasion, the speakers paid rich tribute to the services and sacrifices of the martyred leader in the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. They said that the deceased leader spent many years in jail for advocating Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. He said that Maulana Abbas Ansari’s contribution in the Kashmir cause and religious and social services will always be remembered.
